Scholarships
Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides several opportunities for women to receive scholarships/awards. The following are the scholarships/awards available:
Zonta Club of Fort Smith Ambassador Girl Scout Award
This award is offered in the amount of $500 to an Ambassador Girl Scout who resides in Sebastian, Crawford, Franklin, Leflore, or Sequoyah Counties. The application should be submitted to Sheila Kelton at skelton@girlscoutsdiamonds.org by October 31.
Zonta Club of Fort Smith STEM Award
This award is offered in the amount of $1000 to a female student attending any accredited college or university with a declared major or minor in one of the STEM areas–science, technology, engineering, math–in order to mirror the objects of Zonta to advance the status of women. This award’s application is the Zonta D10 STEM Award application; however, submit to Zonta Club of Fort Smith’s STEM chair Linda Riley. The local recipient is then submitted to D10 for consideration of an additional $1000 award. Deadline for submission of application to Zonta Club of Fort Smith is June 1. Zonta Club of Fort Smith Rose Award
Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides an annual Rose Award in the amount of $1000 to a female head of household, primary wage earner of the family. Local applications must be submitted by March 1. The local recipient is then submitted by April 1 to Zonta International District 10 for consideration of the district award of $1000. Young Women in Public Affairs Award
The goal of the YWPA Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements, and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides a $500 award. The local recipient is then submitted to Zonta International District 10 for consideration of a $1000 award. The District 10 recipient receives a $1500 award from Zonta International. Ten international recipients are selected to receive an additional $4000 award from Zonta International.
