Scholarships

Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides several opportunities for women to receive scholarships. The following are the scholarships/awards available:

Zonta Club of Fort Smith Ambassador Girl Scout Award

This award is offered in the amount of $500 to an Ambassador Girl Scout who resides in Sebastian, Crawford, Franklin, or Sequoyah Counties. Deadline for submission of applications is February 15.  Submit to Sara Bayles at sara.bayles@arumc.org.

Zonta Club of Fort Smith Ambassador Girl Scout Award Application

Zonta Club of Fort Smith STEM Award

This award is offered in the amount of $1000 to a female student attending any accredited college or university with a declared major or minor in one of the STEM areas–science, technology, engineering, math–in order to mirror the objects of Zonta to advance the status of women. Deadline for submission of applications is October 1. Submit to Trish Richardson at trish.richardson@uafs.edu

Zonta Club of Fort Smith STEM Award

Rose Award

Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides an annual Rose Award in the amount of $500 to a female head of household, primary wage earner of the family. Local applications must be submitted by February 1. The local recipient is then submitted  by March 1 to Zonta International District 10 for consideration of the district award of $1000. Deadline for submission of applications is February 1. Submit to Cathy Williams at catwill@cox.net.

Rose Award Application

Young Women in Public Affairs Award

The goal of the YWPA Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides a $500 award. The local recipient is then submitted to Zonta International District 10 for consideration of a $1000 award. The District 10 recipient is submitted to Zonta International for consideration of a $4000 award. YWPA local submission deadline is March 1. Local contact is Kathleen Cates at kathleenkcates@gmail.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is awarded to a woman undertaking business studies who has demonstrated outstanding potential in the field. Applicants must be enrolled in at least the second year of an undergraduate program and have achieved an outstanding academic record. Zonta Club of Fort Smith provides a $500 scholarship. The local recipient is then submitted to Zonta International District 10 for consideration of a $1000 scholarship. The D10 recipient is submitted to Zonta International for consideration of a $7000 scholarship. The deadline for submission is April 15.  Local contact is Patti Conard at Patti.Conard@uafs.edu.

    Great list! What about the Amelia Earhart scholarship?

      The Amelia Earhart Scholarship is awarded only by Zonta International. Zonta Club of Fort Smith doesn’t offer a local one.

    Hi! Online it appeared that the JMK scholarship was for graduate students as well. However, on here it seems it is just for undergraduate. Can you please clarify?

      Yes, the scholarship is open to those enrolled from the second year of undergraduate work through final year of master level.

    Are the applications for the Young Women in Public Affairs award to be postmarked, emailed, or recieved by February 10?

    Alyssa, I just learned that the deadline has been extended but only until tomorrow (Friday, March 10) I am sorry that you missed it, but, perhaps, you can next year.
